RUNNING INJURIES

Chiropractic and Running Injuries - Runner’s Gait Analysis

Dr. Keith Mirante discusses running injuries of the foot, ankle, knee, hip and low back and how chiropractic can help using a detailed gait assessment to determine the cause of your injury. www.DrMirante.com

If you are a runner, taking running away from you is like taking coffee away form a coffee drinker.

When evaluating a running injury, it is of the utmost importance to evaluate the entire “kinetic chain”, the ankle, knee, hip, and low back.  The kinetic chain is a reference that motion in one joint will affect the other joints adjacent to it.  An example of this is if you were to stand straight, and roll your feet in and out, you can visually see how this changes the position of the knee.

Often times, if there is a knee injury, attention is paid only to the knee, while disregarding potential influences from surrounding joints.

During our examination on you, it will be our goal to identify the cause of your running injury, observe your gait, and identify any potential breakdowns in your running mechanics.
