What is Arthritis?

When we think of arthritis, the first thing that comes to mind is degeneration due to old age. We have been fed this information since we were young. Is this truly the real reason people suffer from arthritic pain or are there certain predisposing factors that speed the process along? Studies show that increased activity decreases your chances of arthritic changes no matter what age. How could this be? Isn’t arthritis due to degeneration because we are getting old? Actually, arthritis and the pain associated are due to spinal subluxations. In our office we get these conditions addressed efficiently by eliminating subluxations and restoring joint function in the neck, low back, shoulder, and hip.

To better understand if you may be experiencing arthritis, let’s go through some of the signs and symptoms. Arthritis, no matter where in the spine, will present with localized dull and achy pain. The most common regions to be affected with arthritis are the neck, low back, and hips. Depending on your job, you may be predisposed in other regions such as the wrists, shoulders, elbows, knees, and ankles.

Now, let’s talk about why spinal subluxations are the root cause of arthritis, which leads to low back and neck pain, and how Chiropractic helps. A spinal subluxation is a joint that has lost its normal function and has become fixated. Without normal joint movement, we begin to degenerate, leading to arthritis and pain. Chiropractic care removes these subluxations, relieving arthritic symptoms and preventing the progression of degeneration. This will help in living life to the fullest! Age is not the limiting factor, the health of your spine is. Here at Coastal Chiropractic, in Madison, CT we see these problems every day and help serve people suffering in Killingworth CT, Clinton CT, Westbrook CT, Branford CT Old Saybrook CT and Guilford CT.
